The Workers' Party of Turkey (TİP) announced that 10 of its members were detained due to slogans shouted at the rally. They are being sent to court for arrest.
TİP's Istanbul Provincial Organization demanded the immediate release of those detained. This situation is seen as an attempt to suppress the voice of the opposition.
The CHP rally in Bakırköy once again highlighted the tense political atmosphere in Turkey. The reactions following the arrests could strengthen the unity of the opposition.
