Floods and Water Disasters: Nature's Challenges

Otter spotted in the Euphrates River.

Floods and water disasters are among the challenges posed by nature. This article focuses on the stories of otters spotted in the Euphrates River and Tekirdağ coast.

Citizens walking along the Euphrates River noticed a freshwater otter moving in the reed beds. This moment was captured on a cellphone camera. The otter was seen swimming in the river and then climbing onto the rocks before disappearing back into the water.

An endangered otter was also spotted in Tekirdağ. In the Süleymanpaşa district, the otter was seen floating on the water before diving and disappearing.

In Van, two otters were spotted. This rare species, protected in Turkey, prefers wetland areas. Citizens recorded the otters swimming in the stream with their cellphones.

In Diyarbakır, three otters were seen under the historic On Gözlü Bridge. These images remind us once again of the need to protect these endangered animals.
