A major operation took place at Köyceğiz Municipality!

Vice Mayor Özgür Örnek was detained for issuing fake building permits. This situation came to light following a complaint to the Presidential Communication Center.

The Muğla Provincial Gendarmerie Command conducted the operation on September 17, detaining Özgür Örnek at his home. Teams seized numerous documents and digital materials during the search at the municipality and his residence.

A probe has also been launched against Köyceğiz Mayor Ali Erdoğan for allegedly ignoring the complaints from municipal staff and failing to initiate necessary investigations.

As part of the operation, contractor Metin Y. and his son Melikcan Y. were also detained. Özgür Örnek and Metin Y. were placed under house arrest.

These developments once again highlight corruption allegations in local governments in Turkey. Public reaction to this issue is eagerly awaited.
