Drought and Erosion: Decline in Sunflower Production

Drought has seriously affected sunflower production this year. Adverse climate conditions in Edirne have led to low yields.
Hüseyin Arabacı, the President of the Edirne Agricultural Chamber, stated that the ongoing drought over the past two years has negatively impacted sunflower fields. This year, yields are below average.
Due to drought, some farmers are considering switching to alternative crops instead of sunflowers. This situation threatens agricultural sustainability.
In Edirne, the water flow in the Tunca and Meriç Rivers has decreased, negatively affecting agricultural irrigation. Farmers are struggling with water shortages.
Experts emphasize the need for increased government support in combating drought. Otherwise, sunflower production may significantly decline.
