Court of Accounts Report Reveals Irregularities

Irregularities identified in the Court of Accounts report

The latest report from the Court of Accounts reveals irregularities in government spending.

Since the transition to a one-man regime in 2018, irregularities have reportedly increased. President Erdoğan's reduction of oversight powers has worsened the situation. The Court of Accounts identified 10,569 irregularities in its 2024 report.

The expenditures of the Presidential Palace are also noteworthy. The Presidency will spend over 12 billion TL in total for 2024, with daily expenses reaching 32 million TL.

The financial accounts of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure are also filled with irregularities. The ministry is covering the expenses of facilities belonging to a sports club.

Payments to city hospitals were also included in the report. Due to incorrect planning, gas meters are being billed incorrectly.

The Court of Accounts also brought up tax exemptions granted to luxury yachts and boats. This situation leads to tax losses.

The Central Bank's procurement practices, which avoid public tenders, have also drawn attention. This is considered a violation of the law.
