Protests at Ege University Over Price Hikes and Arrests

Students at Ege University protested against rising meal prices. They rallied with slogans and faced arrests.
Gathering in front of the cafeteria, students shouted, "Rector, take your hand out of our pockets" and "The right to nutrition cannot be blocked." The increase in meal prices was deemed unacceptable for students struggling to make ends meet.

CHP MP Mahmut Tanal highlighted the economic difficulties faced by students, emphasizing the insufficiency of the KYK scholarship. He noted that students' daily meal expenses could reach 200 TL.
The police intervention and subsequent arrests of some students intensified the protests. Students declared they would continue to fight for their rights.
"This is not just about food; our fundamental rights such as housing, transportation, and nutrition are being systematically violated," the students stated, expressing their commitment to solidarity in their struggle.
