European Union Takes Action! Bulgaria is Switching to Euro

EU finance ministers are gathering to approve Bulgaria's transition to the euro. This will pave the way for Bulgaria to become the 21st member of the Eurozone.
Bulgaria has aimed to adopt the common currency since joining the EU in 2007. After nearly twenty years of efforts, it is now at the final stage of achieving this goal.
Christine Lagarde, President of the European Central Bank, stated that the transition to the euro will enhance the global profile of the currency. However, there is significant division among the public regarding this transition.
Despite the government's positive approach, there are protests due to fears of abandoning the lev and rising prices. Thousands took to the streets, leading to clashes with police.
Bulgarian governments believe that transitioning to the euro will enhance economic stability. The final decision will be made by the European Parliament and finance ministers.
Bulgaria will be the second EU country to adopt the euro in the last decade, following Croatia's entry into the common currency in 2023.
