Ekrem İmamoğlu's Diploma Case and Latest Developments

The diploma case of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu has been postponed to December 8. The hearing took place at the Marmara Closed Penal Institution in Silivri.
Journalists and lawyers were not allowed into the hearing. The judge stated that the room was small but prepared a larger one. İmamoğlu decided not to attend the hearing.

İmamoğlu stated that he did not want to make a defense in the hearing. The judge expressed that he did not find the request for postponement reasonable.
The case relates to İmamoğlu's transition from the University of Northern Cyprus to Istanbul University in 1990. The Higher Education Council initiated an investigation claiming the diploma was fake.
İmamoğlu has been detained since March 23 due to a corruption investigation focused on the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. Stay tuned for updates on the case process and developments.
