Ankara Mayor Mansur Yavaş addressed the Ministry of Transport, emphasizing that the airport metro has still not been constructed. During the groundbreaking ceremony for the Mamak Metro, he expressed his disappointment over this issue.

Yavaş stated, "They are not building the airport metro in Ankara, but they are racing to build metros in Istanbul," continuing his criticisms. He also pointed out that Ankara is the only capital in Europe without a metro to the airport.

In his letter to the Ministry of Transport, Yavaş stated, "If you are not going to build it, I will build the airport metro," but received a negative response.

Yavaş pointed out that during the term of former mayor Melih Gökçek, no metro lines were completed, stating, "As soon as I took office, we identified the lines, but there is still no progress."

Yavaş criticized, "They continue to bestow upon us the honor of being a city without a metro from the airport to the city center among developed countries in the world."
