Hurricane and Storm Disaster: Tackling Tick Infestation

Hurricane and storm disasters are significant issues in Turkey. Particularly, tick infestation poses a threat to public health.
In Sivas, Tokat, and Kayseri, cases of Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) are on the rise. This year, there have been 6 fatalities in Sivas. Experts are calling for a ban on hunting.
235 NGOs have launched a campaign to completely ban hunting. This campaign aims to stop the rise in CCHF cases.
Governor Yılmaz Şimşek stated that the number of CCHF cases has decreased in recent years, but 39 positive cases have been identified this year. However, the public needs to remain vigilant.
