In Elazig's Palu district, 44-year-old teacher Serkan Dalgıç drowned in the Murat River while trying to cool off. Despite all efforts, he could not be saved. Dalgıç was a father of three and taught literature at Elazığ Mehmet Koloğlu Anadolu Lisesi.

Another tragic loss in the education community came from Zonguldak. English teacher İsmail Oruçoğlu passed away from a heart attack while clearing snow. His funeral was attended by many of his loved ones.
