Warning on Retirement Pensions: Don't Let Your Money Expire

Be cautious about expiration on your retirement pensions!
The Social Security Institution (SGK) offers rights such as retirement, disability, and inability to work. However, if these rights are not collected for a long time, they may expire. Especially for pensions granted before 2008, if not collected within 5 years, you may lose your rights.
If you retired before 2008 and have not collected your pension for a long time, SGK checks whether the pension has expired. If 5 years have passed, that money is lost. However, there is no such expiration for pensions granted after 2008.
In cases of absence, beneficiaries must apply to SGK within 5 years from the date the court decision becomes final. If no application is made during this period, only 5 years of back payments can be received.
Check your retirement pensions and collect them before they expire!
