Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan emphasized the importance of the EU membership process. He met with EU Commissioner for Enlargement Kos in Istanbul.

During the meeting, the significance of Turkey's candidate status for EU membership and its role in ensuring stability in the region was reiterated. Fidan stated that there is an urgent need for a reliable and principled expansion policy.

Fidan and Kos agreed to develop a common strategic cooperation vision in areas such as trade, energy, and transportation. They also welcomed the decision to facilitate multiple-entry visas for Turkish citizens.

Reiterating Turkey's commitment to the EU membership process, Fidan emphasized that fair treatment should be given to all candidate countries, highlighting the importance of merit and objective criteria in this process.
