Corruption Case in Izmir: Appeals Against Releases

The Izmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has appealed against the releases in corruption investigations. Irregularities in the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality are drawing public attention.
The Izmir 17th Criminal Court of First Instance decided to release 30 detained suspects. This decision has been appealed by the Prosecutor's Office.
The court decided to continue the detention of Heval Savaş Kaya, the former General Manager of IZBETON A.Ş. The release of other suspects has drawn attention.
A total of 157 suspects were detained during the investigation. Out of these, 126 were arrested. The corruption allegations in Izmir have resonated throughout Turkey.
