Fındıklı Mayor Ercüment Çervatoğlu was recently attacked by a group. The assailants approached him while he was overseeing the construction of a public beach.

One of the attackers punched and bit Çervatoğlu. After the attack, he went to the police station to file a complaint. Following the incident, a group marched to the municipal building chanting, "Hands off the mayor!"

Çervatoğlu stated in an interview with Halk TV that the attack was carried out by a drug gang. "We are working to open the beach to the public with a community-oriented approach. We are fighting against drug gangs in Fındıklı alongside the police," he said.

After the attack, it was reported that Çervatoğlu's health was good. An investigation is ongoing, and one of the assailants has been taken into custody.
