Fires are spreading rapidly in Greece! Evacuations have started in Patra.

According to reports from the Greek press, due to the approaching flames, the Karamandanio Children's Hospital and Konstantopoulio Nursing Home in Patra have been evacuated. The fire reached the vicinity of the hospital building, and thick smoke entered the corridors.

As flames approached various neighborhoods in Patra, parked vehicles also caught fire. Agricultural lands and olive groves have been largely destroyed.

Many ground teams, 13 planes, and 10 helicopters are participating in firefighting efforts. The frequent change of wind direction complicates the intervention.

The Greek Ministry of Civil Protection declared a state of emergency following the fires. The army and volunteer teams are also supporting firefighting efforts.
