Drought and Erosion Issues: Water Levels Are Dropping

Drought is causing serious problems in many regions of Turkey. Water levels are dropping, threatening agricultural activities.

In Bayburt, the Gökçedere Lake has seen a drop in water levels due to above-normal temperatures and insufficient rainfall. This poses a significant risk for local producers.

In Tekirdağ, the Bıyıkali Lake's water level has dropped to 5%. The prolonged dry weather has led to significant water loss in reservoirs and lakes, affecting local fish populations.

The Bayramiç Reservoir has also seen its water level drop to 40%. The president of the Çanakkale Agricultural Chamber states that farmers are facing difficulties due to water shortages.

In Kırklareli, the Oruçlu Lake is nearing depletion due to drought, negatively impacting both agriculture and livestock activities.

Experts are warning citizens about water conservation. It is emphasized that conscious consumption habits need to be developed to protect water resources.
