Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu announced his efforts to learn Kurdish while in prison. This statement has resonated widely in society.

In an interview with journalist Fatih Altaylı in Silivri Prison, İmamoğlu shared his struggle to learn Kurdish and his thoughts on the process. He stated, "I listened with moist eyes to my mother's words in Kurdish without understanding them."

İmamoğlu emphasized the importance of the commission established by the government, stating, "Without the voice of the people, peace cannot be achieved in this process." He also highlighted their commitment to democratic reforms and social peace.

Stressing that the effort to learn Kurdish is crucial for fostering understanding and unity in society, İmamoğlu said, "Everyone should be at ease; the CHP is the guarantee of justice and democracy."
