Climate Change and Global Warming: Heat Wave Hits Turkey

Recently, heat waves have intensified across Turkey. Thermometers in Kızıltepe, Mardin, have reached 44.5 degrees. These temperatures highlight the effects of climate change once again.
The General Directorate of Meteorology has reported that temperatures are 10 to 18 degrees above seasonal averages. This situation is becoming more pronounced with the arrival of summer. In particular, temperatures in Southeastern Anatolia are reaching 42-43 degrees.

Citizens are spending time in parks and shaded areas to escape the heat. Experts warn against prolonged exposure to the sun, especially for the elderly and children, emphasizing the need for caution.
Climate change is contributing to the increase in these heat waves. The rise in temperatures above seasonal norms is negatively impacting agricultural production and water resources. Therefore, taking environmental precautions is more important than ever.

The effects of the heat wave are expected to continue in the coming days. Meteorology predicts that temperatures in the Aegean and Mediterranean regions will reach 40 degrees. This situation may also affect summer vacation plans.
