Hurricane and Storm Disaster: Fires in Çanakkale Under Control

Fires in Çanakkale have combined with hurricane and storm disasters. The fires started in agricultural fields in Biga and spread rapidly.
The fire broke out between Değirmencik and Aksaz villages in Biga district and grew due to the wind. Teams from the Çanakkale Forest Regional Directorate began aerial and ground interventions to control the fire.

According to initial assessments, the fire has damaged 4 hectares of agricultural land and 1 hectare of forest area. Teams are working intensively to prevent the fire from spreading to forested areas.

Governor Ömer Toraman announced that the fire is under control and there is no risk requiring evacuation in residential areas. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
To control the fires, 17 water tankers, 3 bulldozers, and 5 fire trucks with 85 personnel are on duty. Fire extinguishing efforts continue.
