Drought Issue: Why is the Tunca River Drying Up?

Drought has brought the flow of the Tunca River to a near halt. This situation threatens the agricultural lands in the region.
In Edirne, agricultural water usage increases during the summer months, while the water level in the Tunca River has dropped to critical points. According to measurements by the State Water Works, the river's flow is recorded at only 5 cubic meters per second.
Local residents express that they have never seen such drought this year. The need for agricultural irrigation further decreases the river's water level.
Selahattin Kaya, who has been running a business by the river for 25 years, stated that he has never faced such a drought before. The effects of climate change are becoming increasingly evident every day.
The Edirne Governorship has started working on creating water retention areas to combat drought. These measures are critical for protecting agricultural production.
