Fire disaster in Izmir! A fire broke out in Menemen district, rapidly growing and threatening the surroundings.

The fire started between Maltepe and Villakent neighborhoods. Firefighters were dispatched to the scene after citizens reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center.

The strong winds in the area caused the fire to spread rapidly. Teams from the Izmir Forest Regional Directorate were also directed to intervene in the fire.

Efforts were made to prevent the flames from reaching Maltepe neighborhood using heavy machinery. It has been reported that the fire is under control.

There are also ongoing forest fires in two other locations in Izmir. The fire in Karaburun district was brought under control after 4 hours of effort.

To control the fires, 2 planes, 6 helicopters, and numerous fire trucks were used. Cooling efforts are still ongoing after the fires.
