Gülsüm Taş, 49 years old, overcame two cancers and graduated as the top of her class!

Living in Sivas, Gülsüm Taş, a mother of two daughters, dreamed of attending university after completing high school through open education. In 2022, she was accepted into Sivas Cumhuriyet University. However, during this time, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She continued her education while undergoing treatment and successfully overcame this illness.

Shortly after, she learned she had kidney cancer. Starting treatment again, she managed to continue her education thanks to her determination. Within a year, she overcame both cancers and graduated as the top of her program.

At her graduation ceremony, she received her diploma from her daughter Elif Nur Taş Kepenek. She expressed her joy, saying, "I'm so glad I came here, I'm very happy."

Gülsüm stated that studying at the university played a significant role in her battle against cancer. She emphasized her positive outlook on life and her desire to continue her education.

Her daughters celebrated their mother's success, stating, "We are proud, we supported her. She succeeded and graduated. This process helped her focus on other things and stay positive."
