During the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Council meeting, a significant debate arose between the AKP and CHP group spokespersons. AKP Group Spokesperson Murat Türkyılmaz criticized İBB's borrowing authorities, questioning the borrowing permissions for metro projects.

Türkyılmaz stated, "You have received a borrowing permission of 210 billion TL for metros but only used 160 billion TL," emphasizing that they remained below the borrowing limit. He argued that this situation should be criticized.

CHP Group Spokesperson Gencay Özcan reminded that the borrowing permission is an upper limit, saying, "You set a limit for credit and request borrowing permission. You are not obliged to borrow the entire amount."

Özcan responded, "If you did it cheaper, you might not even need to borrow. We are not eager to borrow; we have completed it at a lower cost. This should be a source of pride."
