Exciting developments are happening in the corruption case in Izmir!

The Izmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched a large-scale investigation into allegations of corruption at the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality's subsidiary, IZBETON AŞ, on July 1. As a result of this investigation, detention orders were issued for 157 individuals. Among those arrested were former Izmir Metropolitan Mayor Tunç Soyer and CHP Izmir Provincial Chairman Şenol Aslanoğlu.

In the second hearing, the court decided to continue the detention of Soyer and some other defendants. However, some defendants were released under judicial control. This situation could change the course of the trial.

During the hearing, Soyer defended himself by stating that the money paid by cooperative partners is in the cooperative accounts and that there was no fraud. This situation has caused a significant public reaction.
