Lawsuit Filed Against 16 Public Officials in Ebrar Site Case

In Kahramanmaraş, significant developments have occurred in the Ebrar Site case, where 96 people lost their lives in an earthquake. A lawsuit has been filed against 16 public officials.
The indictment prepared by the Kahramanmaraş Chief Public Prosecutor's Office was accepted by the 1st Heavy Penal Court. It was stated that the suspects showed negligence in their duties and approved construction projects contrary to regulations.
The indictment emphasized that the suspects acted with conscious negligence, and a request for a 22-year and 6-month prison sentence was made. Additionally, it was requested that the public officials be banned from their profession.
During the trial process, it was noted that the contractor Ahmet Kara was also sentenced to 17 years and 6 months in prison. This case has once again brought the responsibilities in Turkey's earthquake zone to the forefront.
