Students Turn Their Backs on Rector at ITU Graduation

The graduation ceremony at Istanbul Technical University was marked by student protests. Rector Hasan Mandal was appointed as a trustee by President Erdoğan.
During Mandal's speech, students turned their backs, both applauding and whistling in protest. This incident has resonated widely within the university community.
On the same day, Professor Dr. Mehmet Küçükmehmetoğlu, Dean of the Architecture Faculty, was also protested by students in Taskisla. They turned their backs during his speech as well.
Such protests reignite discussions about academic freedom and management practices at universities. This action demonstrates how determined young people are to make their voices heard.
