Elon Musk and Starlink Satellites: Is There a Danger in Space?

Elon Musk's Starlink project has become a major topic of discussion in space. Experts are investigating the effects of these satellites on the atmosphere.

Harvard astrophysicist Jonathon McDowell stated that the rapid descent of Starlink satellites into the atmosphere could have serious consequences. One to two satellites enter the atmosphere every day, and this number is expected to rise.

McDowell said, "If the stratosphere is damaged, harmful ultraviolet rays reaching the surface will increase. This can lead to skin cancer and eye damage."

Currently, SpaceX has over 8,000 satellites in orbit. However, this situation increases the risk of collision known as the Kessler syndrome.

Experts indicate that the metal vapors released during the satellites' descent into the atmosphere could lead to the accumulation of toxic metals in the stratosphere.

McDowell stated, "Answers range from 'insignificant' to 'it may already be too late.' However, the atmosphere may have already begun to suffer damage."

Experts emphasize that ignoring the space junk problem is no longer an option. This situation threatens humanity's future space aspirations.
