RTÜK President Şahin's Strong Warning on Street Interviews

RTÜK President Ebubekir Şahin made significant statements regarding street interviews.
In his social media post, Şahin noted that some broadcasts under the guise of street interviews systematically lead the public to pessimism. He emphasized that such broadcasts create hopelessness and division in society.

Şahin stated that these broadcasts violate media ethics, the limits of freedom of expression, and public interest. He remarked that while criticism is an essential element of democracy, constructive criticism is not the same as a language of systematic pessimism.
RTÜK announced that it will use all its legal powers against such broadcasts and that inspections will be intensified. Şahin emphasized that there will be no tolerance for content that deliberately misleads the public.
Finally, he stated that legal proceedings will be initiated regarding a street interview that included serious insults directed at a citizen. He affirmed that there will be a resolute fight against such content.
