Bahçeli's Proposal for Alevi and Kurdish Representation Sparks Debate

Devlet Bahçeli speaking at a press conference.

Devlet Bahçeli's recent statements have created a significant impact on Turkey's political agenda. He suggested that the President should have two vice presidents, one Kurdish and the other Alevi.

This proposal emerged from a closed meeting with MHP deputies. Bahçeli's chief advisor, Yıldıray Çiçek, emphasized that these words carry a strong message of brotherhood.

However, these statements have been interpreted by some as divisive. Former AKP Deputy Şamil Tayyar expressed that this suggestion is dangerous.

Bahçeli argued that the representation of Alevi and Kurdish communities would contribute to Turkey's unity and reiterated his stance against ethnic and sectarian discrimination.

Bahçeli's proposal has reignited discussions about ethnic and sectarian issues in Turkey. However, MHP's position remains clear: Everyone is equal, and we must live together.
