A storm and heavy rain started in Istanbul yesterday evening, affecting many areas of the city.

According to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, the rain was particularly intense in the Silivri and Çatalca districts and continued intermittently throughout the night, causing water accumulation in some underpasses.

The storm caused 58 trees to fall, two roofs to blow off, and 11 structures to be damaged. Six vehicles were reported to have been damaged in the incidents.

Meteorological assessments suggest that the heavy rain will decrease this afternoon, but is expected to strengthen again from tomorrow night.

By Saturday, the rain is expected to cease, and temperatures are predicted to rise to between 30 and 33 degrees Celsius with the new week.
