Greece's Marine Spatial Planning and Egypt's Response

Greece's Marine Spatial Planning has been criticized harshly by Egypt. Egypt stated that Greece's plan is unacceptable.
Egypt conveyed its discomfort regarding Greece's DMP announced on April 16 to the Greek Embassy in Cairo. The Egyptian Foreign Ministry emphasized that the consequences of Greece's decision are unacceptable.

The spokesperson for the Greek Foreign Ministry stated that Egypt's reaction is within a diplomatic framework. However, it was argued that Egypt's discomfort relates to 'yet to be determined maritime jurisdiction areas.'
Greece has also raised its goal of extending territorial waters to 12 nautical miles in the Aegean Sea. This situation could lead to new tensions between Turkey and Greece.

Turkey has stated that Greece's unilateral actions are contrary to international law and unacceptable. The Turkish Armed Forces are determined to protect their rights in the Blue Homeland.
