An exciting discovery has been made in Çankırı! An oceanic or Mediterranean climate moss has been found. This discovery took place at Çankırı Karatekin University.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serhat Ursavaş discovered a remarkable moss species in the parking lot during his research at the Uluyazı Campus. This species is believed to be the endangered 'Tortula bolanderi'.

Ursavaş stated that this species has a natural distribution area in the western parts of America and along the Mediterranean coast. He emphasized that there is no natural distribution area for this species in Çankırı.

This discovery also highlights the effects of global climate change. It is interesting to see how this species has adapted to Çankırı's continental climate.
