Passport Crossings to Syria Have Begun!

Passport crossings to Syria have begun! With the announcement from the Ministry of Interior, there is a crowd at the Öncüpınar Border Gate in Kilis.
Since December 8, with the liberation of Syria, the normalization process has gained momentum with the start of passport crossings at the Syrian land border gates. This marks a new era in crossings from Turkey to Syria.
Before the civil war in Syria, Turkish citizens could cross with their ID cards. However, after 2011, crossings were strictly controlled. Now, a new era is beginning.
According to the announcement from the Ministry of Interior, Turkish citizens and Syrian citizens who have acquired citizenship of a third country can cross through other land border gates except for the Peace Spring Operation Area with a passport.

The beginning of these crossings is seen as an important step towards normalizing relations between Turkey and Syria. The crowd at the border gates shows people's interest in Syria.
