Drought Alarm: Water Level in Keşan Drops to Critical Level

Drought is raising alarms in many regions of Turkey. Water levels in Keşan have dropped to critical levels.

Bedri Kara, the Director of Water and Sewerage in Keşan, announced that the water level in Kadıköy Reservoir has fallen below 1%. Out of a total capacity of 56 million cubic meters, only 2 million cubic meters remain, with 1.6 million cubic meters being unusable.

Kara stated, 'We must value every drop of water. Otherwise, we may face water shortages like in major cities.'

Calling for water conservation, Kara warned, 'We provide 10-12 thousand cubic meters of water daily. At this rate, we could run out of water in the reservoir within a month.'

The reduction of water resources due to drought is negatively impacting agriculture and drinking water supply. Therefore, using water conservatively is of vital importance.
