Sözcü TV Screen to Be Blacked Out for 10 Days! Public Reaction Grows

Sözcü TV is set to be blacked out for 10 days by RTÜK. This decision has sparked significant public backlash.
Following the detention of Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, the penalty imposed on Sözcü TV is seen as a major threat to press freedom. Viewers criticize the situation, stating, "They didn't like the truth being told."
Pınar Türenç, President of the Press Council, emphasized that "Sözcü is the people's television," asserting that this decision is unacceptable and undermines the foundations of democracy.
Erol Mütercimler questioned, "What basis do you have for this 10-day blackout?" expressing disbelief at the decision. He believes the court will issue a stay of execution.
Nevzat Çiçek remarked, "You can't achieve anything by shutting down a mass communication tool in this age," highlighting the negative impacts of such actions on society.
