Important developments are taking place regarding the properties of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB). The government plans to transfer the management of cultural assets owned by IBB to the central administration.

CHP Istanbul MP Sibel Yanıkömeroğlu stated that this situation strikes a blow to local governments. The management of public goods being transferred to the central administration will restrict the income and service authorities of municipalities.

More than 100 properties of foundations belonging to IBB will be transferred to the central administration with this bill. These properties include important cultural structures such as museums, libraries, and cinemas.

Additionally, IBB transferred some of its properties to the Treasury in exchange for tax debts. This development is significant as it also affects IBB's financial situation.
