Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu's article in Le Monde was criticized by Hürriyet's Editor-in-Chief Ahmet Hakan. Hakan found the article 'banal' and advised İmamoğlu not to write for the European press.

In his article, İmamoğlu referred to his legal process as 'Kafkaesque', citing Franz Kafka's novel 'The Trial'. He highlighted the ambiguity of the accusations against him by the prosecutor.

Ahmet Hakan stated that the values of Europe have diminished and that such writings are a relic of the 90s. He emphasized that İmamoğlu should urgently abandon this writing habit for his own good.
