China Developments: Typhoon Matmo and Global Competition

China is preparing for the 21st typhoon of 2025, Matmo. This typhoon is expected to significantly impact Guangdong, Hainan, and Yunnan provinces.
According to Xinhua, the Ministry of Water Resources warned that the heavy rainfall caused by this typhoon could dangerously raise water levels in rivers. Therefore, precautions must be taken.
The National Meteorological Center announced that Typhoon Matmo is expected to be effective from Sunday morning. All flights have been canceled on Hainan Island, and schools and businesses are closed.
In Zhanjiang city, all businesses have been closed, and 151,352 people have been relocated to safe areas. This typhoon, meaning 'heavy rain' in the Guam language, is moving at a speed of 120 kilometers per hour.
