Ekrem İmamoğlu made significant statements regarding the Kanal Istanbul project.

He pointed out that the construction of 24,000 housing units has begun around the Sazlıdere Dam, threatening Istanbul's water sources. İmamoğlu stated, "They took advantage of my absence to initiate this profit project."

İmamoğlu expressed that TOKI has been activated and construction machinery has been brought into protected areas. He also emphasized that the presidential decision has reduced the drinking water usage rate of the Sazlıdere Dam to 0%.

He stated, "We have no water sources to sacrifice in our beloved Istanbul. We will never give up fighting against this unjust and unlawful approach."

Highlighting the environmental damage caused by the Kanal Istanbul project, İmamoğlu stressed the importance of sincerity in climate change and environmental protection issues.
