President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan celebrated the 24th anniversary of the AKP with new members. He made an interesting remark to Yalvaç Mayor Mustafa Kodal while pinning a badge: 'Lose weight!'.

Kodal had previously been detained, which drew attention during Erdoğan's badge-pinning moment. Erdoğan also advised him to work hard.

Kodal was elected as the mayor from the İYİ Party in the 31 March 2024 Local Government Elections. However, he later resigned from his party and joined the AKP.

Erdoğan expressed support for Kodal and other mayors who joined the party. Such political transfers are frequently discussed topics in Turkey.
