Mount Etna Erupts! Lava and Ash Continue to Erupt

Lava flow from Mount Etna.

Mount Etna is currently experiencing significant volcanic activity.

The lava flow that began on August 10 is fed by craters at an altitude of 3,000 meters. The volcano became active again on August 14, continuing to erupt ash and lava. The furthest lava front has reached approximately 2,700 meters in height.

The explosive activity from the Southeast Crater has caused ash to spread to the summit area. Aviation alerts are currently at orange level.

The Italian National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) has confirmed the volcanic activity. Orange-coded warnings have been issued for flights, but operations at Catania Fontanarossa Airport remain unaffected.

Mount Etna is known as the highest and most active volcano in Europe. It has erupted multiple times this year, impacting life in the surrounding areas.
