Aydın Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu has resigned from CHP and joined AK Party. This political change has created a significant buzz in Turkey's agenda.

Çerçioğlu stated in her resignation announcement, "It is not easy to leave a party I have been in for nearly a quarter of a century, but there was no longer a situation to do politics here."

President Erdoğan welcomed Çerçioğlu, emphasizing that the AK Party family is growing with new members.

Çerçioğlu reminded her past relationships, stating, "I was never a distant mayor to the President. We always had a good friendship."

This resignation is seen as a result of the issues within CHP and anti-democratic practices. Çerçioğlu emphasized her commitment to continue serving the people of Aydın.
