Imamoğlu's Call for Justice and Critique of the Judiciary

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu questioned the independence of the judiciary. He stated that the judiciary favors those who pay and expressed that the public's sense of justice is being hurt.
Imamoğlu described the detention of 44 people, including Beyoğlu Mayor İnan Güney, as 'revenge operations'. He emphasized that this situation threatens justice.

Imamoğlu called on the Minister of Justice not to tell the public the fairy tale that 'the judiciary is independent'. He stated that the dependency of the judiciary on politics endangers not only justice but also the future of the nation.
Imamoğlu expressed his belief that justice will eventually be served and emphasized the importance of the public's conscience. He stressed the need for 'justice for everyone'.

Finally, Imamoğlu stated that respect must be shown for the people's will and that these injustices must be stopped. He said, 'We must stop the oppression inflicted by a handful of people on this country.'
