AI Fear: MIT Student Drops Out Over Concerns

Artificial intelligence is emerging in almost every aspect of our lives today. However, this situation brings along some concerns.

MIT student Alice Blair stated that she dropped out of school due to the potential of artificial general intelligence (AGI) to destroy humanity. Blair expressed her fear of possibly dying before graduating due to AGI.

Blair, who works as a technical writer for an organization focused on AI safety, is concerned about how the education system will be affected by this new technology. Harvard graduate Nikola Jurkovic shares similar concerns.

Concerns about AI applications leading to laziness among students are growing among academic administrators and educators. Many academic leaders are increasingly worried that students are becoming overly dependent on AI.

According to a recent study, 64% of students express concerns about the use of AI in education. Educators fear that this could weaken critical thinking skills.

It is emphasized that understanding the effects of AI in education and developing suitable solutions requires a redesign of the education system.
