Imamoğlu Writes About Turkey's Future in The Economist

Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu wrote an important article in The Economist about Turkey's future. In his article, he emphasized the steps needed to ensure internal peace in Turkey.
İmamoğlu pointed out the irony of the disarmament process occurring during a time when the opposition is being suppressed. He expressed that this process offers a chance to enhance Turkey's international standing.
He noted that the Kurdish issue is one of the biggest obstacles to Turkey's democratization process and stressed the need for a transparent process in resolving this issue.
İmamoğlu stated that the government's preference for closed-door negotiations undermines democratic participation and negatively impacts Turkey's international relations.
Finally, he expressed that Turkey is at a crossroads and that it is essential to rebuild democratic institutions. İmamoğlu declared that he would lead this process as the CHP's presidential candidate.
