Water Crisis Looming in Istanbul! Reservoirs Running Dry

Information about reservoirs and water situation in Istanbul.

A water crisis is looming in Istanbul! Reservoir levels are rapidly declining.

After a dry spring and summer, the reservoir levels in Istanbul have dropped below 50%. According to ISKI data, the current reservoir level is measured at 49.96%. This situation poses a serious threat to Istanbul's water needs.

In particular, the Alibeyköy Reservoir has dropped to a level of 33.08%. This has led to the drying up of areas that were filled with water during the winter months. Areas where fish used to swim have now turned into barren lands.

Seven of the reservoirs supplying water to Istanbul have fallen below 50% capacity. The fullest reservoir is Elmalı Reservoir at 67.42%.

In light of this situation, authorities are urging citizens to conserve water. Taking measures to prevent a water crisis is of utmost importance.
