Drought and Erosion Issues: Water Crisis in Tekirdağ

Drought alarm in Tekirdağ! Reservoir levels have dropped to critical levels.
Tekirdağ Metropolitan Mayor Candan Yüceer stated that current water sources are alarming. The reservoir levels have fallen below 1%. This situation, combined with the rising population in summer, has led to an extraordinary level of water demand.
Yüceer summarized the situation by saying, 'Our surface water is almost nonexistent. We are currently using dead volume.' The effects of climate change are starting to be felt directly in Tekirdağ.
Drought is affecting not only Tekirdağ but all of Turkey. The decrease in water sources threatens agriculture and daily life. Therefore, water conservation and conscious usage are of utmost importance.
Similar situations are being faced in the reservoirs of Bodrum. Experts from Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University indicate that the effects of summer drought are being felt. Water levels have dropped to critical thresholds.
