Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoğlu applied to the Ministry of Justice to attend the funeral of Manisa Mayor Ferdi Zeyrek. However, his application was denied.

Ferdi Zeyrek suffered an electric shock on the first day of Eid al-Adha and was hospitalized, where he later passed away. The funeral ceremony will be held at 11:00 in front of the Manisa Metropolitan Municipality.

Imamoğlu's lawyers stated in the application, "It is of great importance for my client to attend this ceremony due to both personal closeness and political responsibility."

After the funeral prayer at Hatuniye Mosque, Zeyrek's body will be buried in Çatal Cemetery. Imamoğlu's application was denied by the Ministry of Justice.
