Recent earthquakes in Balıkesir's Sindgir district are being closely monitored by experts.

Prof. Dr. Hasan Sözbilir from Dokuz Eylul University stated that over 200 aftershocks were recorded following the 6.1 magnitude earthquake. This situation is referred to as an "earthquake storm" and may continue for several weeks.

Sözbilir emphasized that "an earthquake storm should not be understood as a damaging mechanism, but rather as a mechanism developing for the system's relaxation."

He noted that new seismic faults have been identified in the region and warned that aftershocks could reach up to 5 in magnitude, advising citizens to stay away from damaged buildings.

Prof. Dr. Naci Görür warned that "we can encounter a disaster-level earthquake at any place at any time," stressing the need for earthquake-resistant cities.

Experts emphasize the importance of being cautious following the earthquakes in Balıkesir and that aftershocks may continue. Therefore, it is crucial for citizens to heed the warnings.
